Thankful for Kids' Fears

I'm afraid of the dark! Of spiders! Of wasps! So many fears... so little time!

DAD!! There is a monster!!

Where…?

Under my bed!

No. In the closet!

There’s nothing…?

Are you sure…?

It is easy to be annoyed by childrens’ fears.

They are so often simple.

Easy to resolve.

Irrational, even.

(Remember, rationality does not fully develop until 25)

It is easy to neglect these simple fears.

Or to wish they weren’t present.

Both because of how it affects them…

I love them! I WANT them to feel happy!

And because of how it affects me…

I am busy! This is THE WORST time!!

But I am thankful for my childrens’ fears.

Why?

Because it shows a lot about priorities…

About how they think…

About what needs they have.

And how I can love them. Serve them.

Teach them something.

Get to know them better!

And then help them overcome the fear 💪

These little people are fantastic!

What irrational fears did you have as a kiddo?

What irrational fears do you still have!?

The kiddos in your life?

Let’s name them!!

And overcome them!!
