Thankful for Fireflies

“I caught one!!”

“Is that a firefly!?”

“Watch. It will fly away!”

Gleeful running around the yard

Little bugs with lights on their butts.

What an amazing creature!

And they bring such joy to the kiddos!

There is something so innocent and beautiful

About a bunch of kids running around the yard

Trying to catch a lightning bug.

Now there is a dark side to this whole thing…

“Oh no…. I grabbed it too hard 😭 It died!”

So this art form teaches agility… careful vision…

And gentleness!

But the joy is my favorite part.

The joy it brings my children. The simple pleasure of magnificent creatures…

And the joy it brings me to watch them having fun!

So I am thankful for lightning bugs. Fireflies. Whatever you call them 😄
