Thankful for Independent Cooking

No. Not cookies for breakfast. Not chocolate chips either. Yes. Bagel will work!

I love cooking breakfast for my family.

We try to have pancakes or waffles about once per week.

One of my favorite meals!!

We like to do B4D (Breakfast for Dinner) too!!

But one of the super fun joys of parenting

Is teaching the kiddos how to fix their own meals!

This is most often fixing their own breakfast.

And they often start with some… less than ideal choices.

Cookies. Crackers. Chocolate chips.

So we have to work through that. (And I will admit… it can get old)

But then they start fixing bagels. Toast. Eggs. Cereal. Yogurt. Fruit.

Maybe still not the healthiest choices in the world.

We’re working on eating more protein in our diets.

But I am thankful for my kids’ growing independence in food preparation!

They are learning how to think about food choices!

How to provide and prepare!

And hopefully how it affects them later 😅

Have any food tips for teaching kiddos how to be independent but also make wise choices with food?

A bit of autonomy. A bit of struggle.

A lot of growth 😎
