Thankful for Lizards
Creepy crawlies? They're just food! For a lizard caught by me and you!
“Hey there, white stripe!”
“Look dad!! I caught some lizards!”
Lizard: exists
Children: AAAA LIZZZAARDDD!!! (mind leaves body)
So I mentioned bugs…
I think the love of bugs is only second
To the love of lizards.
Same daughter leads the charge. She LOVES lizards.
In fact… her bug friends are often food for the lizards.
Now we have not pulled the trigger on getting her a pet lizard yet…
But that is probably only a matter of time.
Instead, she captures lizards in the back yard.
And has gotten pretty good at caring for them.
At first they are pretty mad…
Trying to bite her and whatnot.
She eventually breaks them in…
And plays with them all afternoon.
She lets them go in the evening…
So that they can go home to their families of course.
(And so they don’t die in our crude attempts at a lizard home…)
But this love of lizards has spread!
The other kiddos are now comfortable
Loving and taking care of lizards.
And now I am thankful for the lizards.
Seeing one is never the same as it was before…
I’m either appreciating how fast they are…
Or thinking about how impressed I am by my daughter’s catches…
It’s wild how one child’s love can change your perspective!!
