Thankful for the Mess

“The house is a wreck!”

“Were y’all raised in a barn!?”

“Who created this mess!?”

We have all heard these before.

Maybe you’ve said them!

I know I have. 😅

We love a clean house.

It just exudes peace. Rest. Orderliness.

The clutter in my mind can relax for a minute.

Not so much with the mess.

It is also remarkable how fast a mess can be created!

And how much work it takes to resolve!

Ever played 52 card pick-up?

Instant start… takes a while to clean up!!

Kids are EXPERTS at mess creation from day 1!!

But my wife and I like to say:

The house is a mess because we live in it…

And…

One day our house will be clean… and we will miss the kiddos!!

These little people may be mess makers…

But boy do we love them!

And boy will we miss them when they are grown and on their own!

So we have this choice: mess or miss?

Today… I am thankful for the mess!

It’s a reminder of how much life happens in our house.

And I will miss that when it is gone.
