Thankful for the Quiet

Our house may be noisy. But we do quiet well too 😎

Evening routines can be a bit of a grind.

Many nights my wife and I crash afterwards.

Kiddos live hard.

And then they SLEEP HARD!

For like 12 hours.

But we are tired after getting them down!

I like to tell friends in particularly hard parenting seasons:

Make sure to go take a look at your kiddos while they're sleeping.

So small. So calm. So innocent. So quiet.

And yet, so much life in that little person!!

Moreover, the quiet is a great time to reconnect.

With what...?

With the sweetness and innocence of these little people!

Another way we do it is with pictures.

Wait til the kids go to bed... then open up the scrapbooks!

Or the photo reels on our phones.

It's a great way to remind ourselves about the sweet memories.

Even if they were loud. Crazy. Overwhelming. In the moment.

It's amazing how sweet they are when reminiscing in the quiet.

So I am thankful for the quiet.

It is really quite abundant.

The contrast with the noise is beautiful. And if we use it well...

Kids are re-energized. Parents are rejuvenated.

And then we can have a lot more fun 🤩

What about you?

What are your favorite ways to leverage the quiet?

Are there any particular examples where the quiet has helped you appreciate the active / noisy / wild / crazy times!?
