Thankful for Shared Bedrooms

Is it for fun? Growth? Community? Challenge? Yes!

“Daad!! She is messing up our room!”

“We’re playing together!”

Giggles and yelps of joy after bedtime

“I wish I had someone to do a sleep-over with”

Most of our kids share a room.

My son is the only boy… so he has a room to himself.

But it’s fun to see the good that comes from room sharing!

On one hand… they LOVE to play and work together.

Tag teaming the cleaning. Making epic messes and forts together.

Going to bed takes longer because they are constantly making each other laugh…

Telling jokes. Playing. Trying to be quiet but giggling loudly.

On the other hand… they drive each other nuts!

Arguing with each other. Different levels of cleanliness…

One kiddo working to clean the room… while the other dissents.

Unequal effort. Disparate outcomes. The frustration that accompanies…

Taking each others’ stuff… Arguing over whose is whose.

It really is a beautiful thing! Resolving that type of conflict

Is a life skill that will benefit them for many years to come!

I wish I was always patient and calm amidst the adversity.

Teaching them to stay balanced and use their words…

Leading by example.

We all have work to do!!

But for today… I am thankful for shared bedrooms.

It is a microcosm of “shared lives.”

And life is a lot more fun with other people 😄

What sleeping or sharing arrangements have worked out well for you or those in your life!?

Anything that helped you develop valuable life skills?

There is so much to be thankful for!!
