Thankful for Kids' Tenacity

The Proverbial Strong-Willed Child. Let's be thankful for them!!

“I’ll do as I please, thank you very much.”

That’s kinda what I imagine the strong willed children think.

Of course it’s not…

They’re little!

Their brains don’t have fully developed reasoning yet.

It can be hard wrestling with the strong will of a child!!

Why won’t you just listen to me?

I am your parent! I want what’s best for you!

I want to teach you! I want to help you!

Nothing.

They are laser focused on one thing: what they want.

The way it “ought to be” (in their eyes).

I am thankful for the tenacity in my children.

Right now, it can drive me nuts.

But that will be an enormous asset for them someday!

And hopefully for the world!

When they set their eyes on improving things for others…

For their family…

For their kids!

And continue to go for it until it is accomplished!!

So as much as I can think that I want submissive and obedient children…

And get frustrated when they’re not…

And as much as we will keep working for that end.

I don’t want the tenacity to stop.

I just want to help them refocus it elsewhere 😄

(Maybe you can help remind me of this later when I’m frustrated? 😅)

What kind of kid were you? Obedient? Strong-willed?

How has it helped you in life as you matured!?
