Thankful that kids are a "Work in Progress"

I love to tell expectant parents who are nervous for their first to arrive:

Don’t worry! You are totally prepared. And you grow with them!

Of course we will take all the preparation we can get…

But I had never changed a diaper until my son was born.

That first little diaper was a wild experience.

But three years later…

I could wrestle a screaming toddler

While changing his stinky diaper

At someone else’s house.

It all comes in good time!

And I still don’t know what it’s like to parent a 14 year old! But soon!

So wherever you are today: enjoy the day.

This is the last day you’ll get that’s like it.

And tomorrow your kids will be older. Wiser (hopefully). And different.

But so will you 😉

So I am thankful that my kids are a work in progress.

Just like their dad.

And Lord knows that guy needs some work!
